At MZ Data Services, computer recycling is offered as a free service for households and small businesses looking to responsibly dispose of old equipment. Every system is dismantled by hand, allowing metals, circuit boards, and other components to be separated cleanly for proper downstream recycling. Monitors are also accepted at no cost when they arrive together with a computer; when dropped off alone, a small fee applies to cover the additional handling and processing required for standalone displays.
All materials are processed locally within the Portland Metro area. We do not ship electronics overseas for dismantling or disposal, and we strongly oppose the practice of exporting e‑waste to developing countries. After sorting and preparation, all components are delivered to an R2‑certified electronics recycler, ensuring that every material stream is handled according to strict environmental and safety standards.
Whenever possible, computers are tested for functionality and may be reused or refurbished to extend their lifespan. Any system that contains storage media is processed according to our secure data destruction procedures, and all hard drives are wiped or destroyed as described on our Hard Drive Wiping service page. Our goal is to provide a responsible, transparent, and community‑focused recycling option that keeps materials local and out of the waste stream.
Pricing: FREE pickup of any PC and accessories, small fee for MONITORS alone, to cover the recycling cost of CCFL lamps (containing mercury).
