Many older barn and industrial lights are being replaced with modern LED fixtures, which offer dramatically lower electricity consumption and improved reliability. As these outdated units are removed, it’s important to ensure they are handled responsibly. Traditional barn lights often use high‑pressure sodium (HPS) or metal halide bulbs, both of which contain mercury and must be managed through proper hazardous materials channels.
We provide free pickup and recycling of complete barn or industrial light fixtures, including the dome and ballast. When lights arrive as full units, they can be processed safely and efficiently at no cost. Individual HPS or metal halide bulbs, however, require a small fee when not recycled together with a complete fixture, as they must be transferred to a licensed hazardous materials recycler for proper handling.
All materials are processed locally within the Portland Metro area, and we do not ship lighting waste overseas for dismantling or disposal. Our goal is to offer a responsible, local solution for retiring outdated lighting while supporting safer, more energy‑efficient upgrades in our community.
